Shout Out of the Week:

“Alex did a great job on two PR installs last week for a new Netflix show that was filming. He was incredibly flexible, provided great communication throughout, and was accommodating to the chaotic shoot schedule."

The Inspired Podcast

Penmarc Inspired Podcast – May 11, 2022

Greetings from here in Washington D.C. to the entire Penmarc Family. My name is Louis Woodland and I am one of the newest members of the Market Management Team responsible for the D.C. Metro Market.
As this week’s Inspired Call is being shared, Market Managers, Market Leads, and Installers are in the field converting Laren displays to Preston displays in Container Stores across the country.
We are excited to introduce you all and our partners at The Container Store to the new system and the many options available to The Container Store’s customers. We have currently completed conversions in Washington D.C., Nashville, Farmer’s Market, and Palo Alto with Preston, rolling out in Austin as we speak and Tyson’s Corner on Sunday!
The team at The Container Store is excited to sell this solution with 2 Preston’s already sold and scheduled for installation. If you have any questions about Preston, please reach out to your respective Market Manager or Market Lead to get those questions answered.
Doing the Right Thing:
This week The Rosewood Family of Companies is focused on “Doing The Right Thing,” and I’d like to continue this topic as it relates to the work that our teams do on a day in and day out basis.
When I think of “Doing The Right Thing,” the first thought or word that comes to mind is "Integrity." Integrity is defined as the quality of being honest and having strong moral principles. In our daily lives as Installers, Coordinators, and Managers, we MUST always Do The Right Thing. With the nature of our company and the geography we cover, I’d add that we must Do The Right Thing even when NO ONE is watching!
In my role, I don’t have someone standing over my shoulder to ensure that I am performing my duties the right way all the time, but adhere to our principles I MUST! The same is true for the installation team. You rarely have a homeowner, designer, or manager watching you as you perform your duties, but to adhere to our principles YOU MUST!
I’d like to highlight two areas that I have noticed where our ability to “Do The Right Thing” can be improved. Those two areas of improvement are Pictures and Partnership.
First, let’s dive into moments when Partnership is Doing The Right Thing. There are many resources available to each of us to get the job done right the first time, 100% of the time.
If you are a Coordinator, you can partner with Installers, Market Managers, Directors, and TCSIS to make sure we are doing the right thing.
If your role is an Installer, you can partner with Coordinators, Market Managers, Directors, and TCSIS to ensure that you are performing your duties right the first time 100% of the time.
I encourage you, the next time any doubt, discomfort, or discrepancy arises, pick a partner and utilize them to ensure you are “Doing The Right Thing.” I’d like everyone listening to think about the last incident or Service Order they were dispatched on to solve a problem and how a partnership could have impacted the customer’s experience, our client's (TCS’) experience, and your experience with this particular job.
There are incidents and Service Orders we are dispatched on daily that could have easily been avoided by prioritizing partnership to ensure we are Doing The Right Thing.
Now on to pictures. In my previous life as a general contractor, I lived and died by the pictures my crews or I took before, during, and after the performance of our work.
The transformative nature of what we do needs to be documented for so many reasons, but let’s keep it focused on the topic of Doing The Right Thing.
Transparent accountability builds trust, and we need the trust of our client and their customers. The tools that we have to allow for this transparent accountability are Cruxos and pictures.
Cruxos holds us accountable for our time and location while pictures hold us, and to be frank, the customer accountable for the work that we do. The importance of GREAT existing conditions photos, pre-and-post-demo photos, EOD photos, and completion photos can not be overstated.
No one wants to be held accountable for an action they are not responsible for, and the only verifiable line of defense we have are photos. On your next busted job, take photos. On your next Service Order, take photos. On your next Install, take photos.
Not only will they provide you and us a layer of transparent accountability, but you are all also Carpenters, c’mon guys and gals, we want to see your beautiful work!
I’d like to conclude this week's call with a huge thank you to all the Installers, Coordinators, Directors, and Managers who have welcomed me with open arms. This opportunity to work alongside you all is a blessing, and I greatly look forward to the future.
Until next time, Do The Right Thing!
