Shout Out of the Week:

Joe Phillips, Carpenter

“I would like to provide feedback on the installer of our closet, Joe Phillips. Joe was exceptional. Joe delivered to us a perfect and beautiful closet system. He took great care in our new home, and his precision, thoughtfulness, and experience resulted in a perfectly installed closet. Joe was also a pleasure to talk to – he gladly explained or showed us things when we asked about them, and he is very gracious and kind. We are very impressed with the closet and with Joe."

The Inspired Podcast

Penmarc Inspired Podcast – May 04, 2022

Headlines:

Good day team, Andy Payne here with this week’s Inspired Call.

During the month of April, the Rosewood team had a talk about Being a Positive Influence on others. This led to a good bit of discussion amongst the team about how we can be a positive influence on others on a daily basis through our work.

With some of the takeaways from that discussion, here are some talking points on how we can be a positive influence daily.

1. Take care of yourself first, so you can feel your best. It’s hard to keep a positive attitude when we aren’t feeling our best.

A. Try to get enough rest

  • Doctors recommend that most adults need 7-9 hours of sleep daily. If you’re feeling drowsy throughout the day this is likely a sign that you’re not getting enough sleep.

  • A lack of sleep can lead to memory problems, poor mood, and slower reaction times which is dangerous when working with tools. A lack of sleep can have a worse effect on your hand-eye coordination than drinking alcohol.

  • Make sure you’re giving yourself enough time to sleep, work to keep a sleep schedule and avoid caffeine, large meals, or bright lights before bed.

B. Eat a good breakfast

  • When people say that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, they're not kidding around.

  • Studies have shown that eating a healthy breakfast kickstarts your metabolism for the day, giving you the energy and focus you need to get things done. Eating a healthy breakfast can improve overall health, and improve memory and concentration throughout the day.

  • Just make sure to avoid sugary breakfast options like doughnuts or Lucky Charms. Although these will give you an immediate burst of energy, you’ll soon be dragging once the sugar high crashes. Look to whole grain cereals or granola bars for a quick, healthy option.

C. Make sure you’re stretching and taking care of your body

  • One of the best ways to reduce the risk of injury to your body is to implement a simple stretch routine prior to starting your work for the day. When done correctly, stretching improves circulation, flexibility, and physical performance.

  • A simple stretch routine can take five minutes to complete. There are a number of great resources online with stretch routines geared towards employees in the installation and construction field. Just remember to go slowly, stretch regularly, and don’t try to push your body beyond its limits.

2. When working with our customers:

A. Remember to smile

  • Smiling is a great way to communicate positivity just through our body language. A smile helps put the customer at ease and shows confidence in what we're doing.

B. Try to be as excited as the customer about their new closet.

  • Remember that mirroring their level of excitement will help keep the positivity going for the customer throughout the installation.

  • Remember, even when our customers are stressed and maybe aren’t as polite as we would like, we can still work to turn it around by maintaining professionalism with our positive attitudes.

3. Remember to spread that positivity when interacting with coworkers.

A. Be the friendly voice on the phone!

  • Keep in mind, that we’re all on the same team and working towards the same goal of happy customers, happy clients, and overall team success.

  • Don’t forget to take a moment to ask how the other person is doing. You never know when someone else is having a bad day or just had a bad interaction and could use a friendly voice on the other end of the line.

That’s all the tips and pointers I have this week on being that positive force daily.

Business Update:

Preston rollout continues! So far, we have completed 8 stores and have 3 more set to start this week. With 5 more stores on tap from next week. Penmarc will complete a total of 43 stores over the course of the rollout.

Keep an eye on your email. Lisa will send out directions the week prior to every installer who will be involved in the store display setups.

We also completed our very first Preston ISV this week. The same practices for executing a Laren ISV apply to the Preston ISVs. As the rollout of Preston continues in stores, we expect to see the number of these increase week over week.

Now for this week’s kudos:

Joe Phillips (Sub Houston who was assisting in the Pittsburgh area)
