The Inspired Podcast

Penmarc Inspired Podcast – April 27, 2022

Hello, Installers, Lisa Orlando here this week. Over the last week, we have seen a few commonalities with the escalated topics from TCS.
This week we are going to talk about:

  • Standard Covers
  • Clean-up at jobs
  • Removing Labels from products
Elfa Standard Covers

If you didn’t hear my last call from April 6th on Standard Covers, listen to it today. I went into detail providing perspective about Standard Covers. But I will say it again: We should install Elfa Standard Covers 100% of the time if they are on the order.
I will also reiterate this: When you get toward the end of your install, and you have your conversation with the customer to see if they need any final height adjustments, this is how the conversation should go:
“Ms. Jones, do you have a few things you want to hang to see if these heights feel good to you before I do the finishing touches on your space?”
Then you talk over any minor adjustments they want.
“Great, I’ll make those tweaks, finish up and come get you for the final reveal.”
Then you make the adjustments, and if Elfa Standard Covers are a part of the order, you put them on 100% of the time. Don’t even bring them up!
Also, if the customer isn’t present, you will still install all the standard covers on the system. Don't leave the boxes behind for them to install. We should install Elfa Standard Covers 100% of the time if they are in the order.
Work Clean and Clean Up on Every Job
This is such a small and easy thing to do, and I would say it’s in the top three things you can do to provide good customer service. But even more importantly, our scope of work includes cleaning up on every job. You are contractually obligated to clean up on every job.
You should ensure there are no cut-off pieces, no drywall dust or screws, etc., on the system or on the floor before you leave.
One trick most installers use is to place the empty box from the brackets under your drill when making the holes for the anchors. This captures most of the dust, but it will not capture everything. Take the time to sweep up and wipe down before you leave.
Remove All Product Labels
Along with cleaning, removing ALL product stickers is a part of your scope of work. Customers shouldn’t have to go behind you and peel off stickers. Peeling labels isn’t hard to do, it can be tedious, but it isn’t hard. Ensure you are removing the labels 100% of the time.
Business Update:
Preston is the hot topic these days. We have begun the rollout to stores and have completed 5 of 6 Florida stores, and we have one Northern California store complete and many more set to start in the next two weeks.
If you are a part of the Preston Store Display changes, you will see the job in your job log in Cruxos. You will also receive an email from me about a week before the scheduled rollout in your area.
When you receive the email, ensure you review all the attachments and links provided!
Not everyone will be a part of the Store Display setups. I know many of you who are current Laren installers will want to see it more than once, but we simply may not have the opportunity to do that.
If you have any questions about Preston or want to know more about the upcoming rollout in your area, please connect with your Market Manager.
Remember, all installers should be calling for authorization on ISVs.
Make sure you call TCS Installation Services when you have missing, damaged or back-ordered products.
Document all missing and damaged items in Cruxos.
Answer "NO" to the question, "Is the installation 100% complete?" if you have any missing, back-ordered, or damaged products.
Take the Safety Training Quiz out now!
Take care of yourselves!
Spirit of Excellences:
We’ve seen a slowdown in positive feedback for installs, so let’s make our mission to get those kudos emails coming back in! Not every customer who has a good experience reaches out to say so, but we still want to do great on each job to help motivate them to say so! In most cases, all it takes is doing the simple, yet satisfying things like having that introduction conversation and CLEANING up after yourself.
Steve Robeson (Subcontractor – Washington D.C.)
“Do you guys have a survey? I am so happy with how it turned out! Karen did an amazing job at helping me find a system that worked for my space, and Steven did a great job installing it.” – TCS Customer
Jonah Carsula (Subcontractor – Northern California)
“I also wanted to share that the customer could not say enough good things about her installer. She would like to request the same installer in the future if possible.” – TCS Store Designer
That's all for today, everyone.
Thank you all for your efforts each day! Keep it up – stay the course and stay safe.
